Iron Fish Foundation: Moving to Maintenance Mode

Hi everyone,

We want to be transparent and set clear expectations about where the Iron Fish Foundation goes from here.

After working on privacy since 2020, launching mainnet on April 20, 2023, and the Iron Fish Devco being acquired by Coinbase, the Foundation is moving to support Iron Fish in maintenance mode. Continuing active development at the pace we once had isn't something we can sustain going forward. As part of this, we're also ceasing all future grants and won't be renewing current ones.

The Foundation will continue to run all supporting infrastructure — bootstrap nodes, block explorer, website, and so on. None of this is critical to the network. Iron Fish has successfully demonstrated that it is decentralized and continues to run thanks to all of you.

The Iron Fish Desktop app remains the official supported wallet.

On OreoWallet 

OreoWallet was funded by the Foundation through an ecosystem grant, and the Oreo team built one of the first browser wallets for a privacy-focused L1. We're grateful for that contribution. OreoWallet is not a Foundation product, and its future is in the hands of its team.

On SuiFish 

SuiFish is moving to become an independent project. Its roadmap and direction are theirs to decide.

Closing Discord 

We are closing the Iron Fish Discord. A community space needs active moderation and presence, and we can't commit to that effort. Closing it cleanly is better than letting it drift.
